Reenactment of "Battle of Williamsburg"
the 145th anniversary
Photos by
Melody Lynn Owens

Melody writes: The original battlefield is federal park land and mostly flooded now. The earthworks are still there and I highly recommend seeing this piece of our American History before it is either washed away or bulldozed to make way for houses or malls...The reenactment was at Endview Plantation, just a few miles away.
This is one of the cabins Melody stayed in Saturday night.
(Gee, I wonder if they had room service?)

I shot this photo of Melody last Thanksgiving when she first put her costume together. She did extensive research on period clothing for authenticity. This part of the grave yard is located in Prospect Hill Cemetery surrounded by a very old, ornate iron fence and it contains the remains of Mosby's Rangers.
I am very proud of my daughter, and I admire the adventurous spirit, which she is instilling in my granddaughter.
That kind of spirit is what America was founded upon.

I hope you enjoyed this weeks edition....the adventure will continue.
Spring is almost HERE!

Patty Peeples
